| Children's
room is the area in the house where a child spends most of his or her time
either playing or studying or even while sleeping. And therefore the environment
in the room deeply influences their moods and behaviors. A child's room
is his/her own area and therefore the colour scheme should blend in with
their energy level. The room should act as a de-stresser in the ever-increasing
pressures and demands.
It
is seen that children relate very well to visual forms and colours. Forms and expressions add a lot of warmth to the atmosphere in the room. They add a personal touch. Small things like a hanging butterfly or robins, or maybe just colourful ribbons can make the room very pleasant and calm. As said, it is not important to have only cartoon characters. You can paint forests, rivers, clouds, trees, animals in happy postures, stars, smiling sun, blinking moon, or even smiling birds. You can even ask your child to paint on a wall whatever they feel like and see what a difference their painting can make to their room. Use a lot of life size cutouts. Beams or pillars can be used for compositions like trees, or wood locks or place a huge cutout. Give a character to such standalone areas. Another important part is to leave some area in the room to be used by the child. Have a drawing board or a soft board where they can create and display. It has been seen that when children grow, they may not remember the furniture in their room but they do remember the painting on their wall. Also remember that colours play a vital role in effecting a child's psychology. Therefore the use of colours should be very careful. You need to keep their energy levels high and not make them dull or very hyper and anxious.
